Basics:
I
am Diana.
Call me Dee.
Also answers to Di, Deedee, Evie, Titania, Tany,
Lulu, the Goddess, Bitch Goddess.
Last time I checked I was female.
On my last birthday I was 23. Fnord.
According to the stars: Gemini, although I'm almost
on the cusp with Taurus. I'm very Gemini, though. Everything except the bad
bits. No, really. Well, maybe I do occasionally exhibit fickle, short-attention-span
tendencies. Bored now...
My natural habitat is Australia. Currently
ensconced in Melbourne, in a swish city pad with my Male. Originally from a
pit of despairTM in central Queensland called Gladstone. (Don't go
there. It has nothing to recommend itself but me, and I'm no longer there.)
I went to Canberra for university. Am now in Melbourne. If I move again, I'll
probably end up in Antarctica.
When procrastination fails... I'm currently enrolled
in a Diploma of Professional Writing and Editing at RMIT in Melbourne. Finally,
I'm pursuing my first and dearest love - the creation of fiction. It's fantastic.
Prior to this, I went mad and did an Honours thesis. Hah. Title: "Caveat
Clausewitz: the evolution of strategic theory". In my degree, I did a Mandarin
major. I also studied a lot of political science, and some German and religions.
What do I look like? Well, that picture
on the left there is me. Basically. I'm a lot more natural and a lot less orange
than that.
Currently:
Listening
to: An awful lot of
Tea Party, Marilyn Manson, Zombie and Stabbing Westward. Angry young thing?
Me? Nah, not really.
Hair: (Still) cut in the Storm/BMB's Tabitha haircut,
with slick bob and two longer chunks in front. Mostly a lighter shade of natural,
still tiny bits of burnt black at the tips of the long bits. It's a weird 'do.
I'm a weird chick.
Attire: My brand new Evil Mermaid skirt. My favourite
black jumper that I leant to Calico once. My Big Black boots. They're called
Loki and Bartleby.
Dreading: Um, nothing actually. I'm surprisingly
dread-free at the moment. Don't worry, it'll pass. (Although trying to make
Dreamweaver do what I want has got to be up there...)
Anticipating: Writing my portion of something called
the Chinese Remix. Possibly best not to ask. And getting a mobile phone. Now
that I've reconciled myself to my impending yuppie-dom, I'm looking forward
to the idea of being able to send facetious messages to people mid-class. Hee!
Enjoying: Life. This city. Being young and silly,
which is something I plan to continue enjoying until I'm at least 65, when I
shall become the Mad Cat Lady, and enjoy terrorising all the young, silly people.
Personality:
Perks:
Sleeping. Reading good fantasy fiction. Writing. Movies. Coffee with friends.
Gothing. Role-playing. Metal/industrial/goth/angry/loud music. Fanfic. Lacy,
velvet, sheer, torn, interesting clothing. Carmageddon, or strategy/war computer
games. Willy Wonka's Wicked Chocolate Mudsludge. Email.
Quirks: Hotpants. Air guitar. Stuffed
tigers. Dancing. Books. Flirtation. The 'Dee Special' Coffee experience. Moshing.
Devil's Advocate. Breakfast routines. Post-modern, neo-Keynesian anti-feminist.
Randomness.
Irks: Poor use of the English language. Mundanity.
Persistant and pointless rudeness, including malicious facetiousness and petty
childishness. Boring music, whether polished to clinical or rough to incoherence.
The teenage internet scene. Unkind people. Movies with tacked-on endings (happy
or sad). Predictability. Awful fantasy novels that have (somehow) been published.
Culture:
Last
CDs: My birthday special "WENCH mix", Rasputina's "Thanks
for the Ether", Bjork's... something.
I want: Kidneythieves' "Zerospace",
Marilyn Manson's "Golden Age of Grotesque", Metallica's newest.
Last books: "The Lion of Senet" by Jennifer
Fallon (current and for the second time - still brilliant), "Innocents"
by Cathy Coote (Lolita's POV, interesting but simplistic), "Borderland"
edited by Terri Windling (urban fantasy stories from the best - very good).
Last movies: "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern
are Dead" (Oldman! Roth! Clever dialogue! Whee!), "Matrix: Reloaded"
(Leather! Ass-kicking! Coolth! Twisty story! Not too bad), "X2" (Oh
my dear sweet God in a cream-cheese sauce. The sheer, unmitigated coolth! The
storyline! The development. Was there anything at all wrong with this?)
Top Five:
Fun things
to say: Dude, "can't
be arsed", "it (verb)eth not", upgefucked, "I (don't) make
this shit up, yo."
Worst movies: (at this moment in time and mood)
Wing Commander, Showgirls, Battlefield Earth, anything including 'of the Nerds',
anything involving Chevy Chase, just barely excluding Three Amigos due to Steve
Martin's brilliance.
RP systems: Free-form (real free-form, not 'rules'
free-form, what is with that?), Amber Diceless, Werewolf, Vampire, AD&D
but only with a DM who really knows her stuff. (Yes, I am a nerd, I know what
THAC0 stands for.)
Cool words: fey, disembark, sibillant, nihilistic,
demiurge
Bits on Dee's desk: Fountain pen, cast-iron gremlins,
Amber Diceless attribute calculations, coffee rings, Heroes 4 strategy guide.
