Megolas is the reason I'm in this fandom to begin with. She lured me in, and has continued to be the most marvellous writing partner, beta-reader and general friend that I could possibly have imagined. The sparkling stuff she writes is the perfect balm for my angsting, tortured soul. She is spectacular. Plus, don't miss the Monkeycrack fic she writes with Mary, because "Negative Polarity" made me laugh for days.
Zarah and I are getting married in Vegas, and you're all invited. She's an eminently talented writer, as evidenced by my willingness to read even *Nsync slash, should it flow from her pen (or keyboard). She has style, and humour, and such an empathic grasp of the characters that she never fails to draw me in. Plus, she says lovely things to me.
I could talk writing with Gloria Mundi all day. I really could. (Sometimes, we talk about Viggo too. Yep.) She's clever, thoughtful, and interested in poking at boundaries with me. She challenges, stretches and inspires me to greater heights. In short: she rocks. Plus, she does a wonderful Viggo. Mmm...
There actually is another Aussie in this insane fandom with me, and she's so cool she makes me feel even better about being Australian. She's the fantabulous Eyebrow of Doom, and her writing is beautifully unsettling in all the right (and wrong) ways... just like life.
It'd be nice if I could write Dom as well as Gabby can. She's very, very good. "Chrome" is a favourite of mine, plus "Different" is the only smut scene ever that didn't make me screw up my nose even a little. Classic. Brilliant. (She seems like a very nice person. I'd like to get to know her better.)
Demelza is wicked, fun goodness. Solid prose, vivid vision, masterful characterisation and some of the most delightful story situations I've ever encountered. Plus pure, falling-off-your-chair-laughing humour in others. A personal favourite of mine is her Dom/Viggo works. Specifically, "Far-Off Thunder" has one of the most breath-catchingly sensual scenes I've ever read. Maximum meep from minimum movement.
Calico makes me glow with determined vigour; she's really that good. Her spectacularly crafted, visceral work has beautifully clean lines, effortless rhythm and space, just the right blend of humour and despair (and smut) for piquancy. And, just in case no one else has told you, her "Sabotage" is the classic of the Lotrips-smut genre. (Do not read in public.) Her work can best be viewed at Wax Jism's Bloomwood archive. While you're there, read everything else that's there, because it's really the cream of the crop.
Buffett's "Fucked": A gorgeously emotive and angstful mish-mash of Orlando, Elijah, Dominic and Viggo. Elegantly crafted with style and pizzazz. Occasionally abrupt but always smooth as silk. Perhaps the single best LotR RPS fic I've ever read.
