Sorted by the character who primarily made me gape, but there is, of course, crossover. John (Constantine) Afterimage - by Ivy. (John solo) Just how it must be; John staggering home immediately after the movie, having to deal with that next moment, when life goes on after the finale. The Bed Scene - by Elys. (John&Angela) Following on from "The Bathtub Scene" (see under Angela), a narratisation of the immediate aftermath of Angela's baptism. Mostly John POV. Once again, great added depth and character. Dust to Dust - by sophrosyne31. (John/Gabriel) Exquisitely lyrical, in her usual style, this is also sharp and biting, the beauty of words and the squalor of reality, and the truth about touching an archangel. John the way he should be. Fallout - by Ivy. (John solo) A short sharp lesson in the way the world is and just how helpless you are... and how helpless John refuses to be. Great voice, great metaphors, great thoughts. Moment of Life - by Sarah (flying_snow). (John/Chas, John/other) Ignoring the errors of grammar, spelling and expression, this is a tight piece of John-voice, drawing forward an interesting premise on a story that even makes a John/Chas vibe believable. Worth a read. No Rest for the Wicked - by Olwen. A sequel to Elys's scenes, this is a deceptively simple delve down through the switchback, complex layers of John, with Angela as catalyst. Struggle - by Ion (ion_bond). A short bite of implacable John at Angela's baptism. Pithy and vivid. Things Known and Unknown - by sienamystic. (John/Angela) A well-delivered first-person John discussion of why Angela, and why not. Beautiful and sharp. Time Stops - by Brenda. (John, Lucifer) A short, perfect, sulfurous exchange between the man and the one who wants him. All gritty snap. Angela The Bathtub Scene - by Elys. A narratisation of Angela's "baptism", mostly from her POV. Brings some lovely added depth, richness and character out of the scene. Instincts - by sienamystic. (Angela/John) A flip-side/sequel to "Things Known and Unknown" (under John); Angela's side of things and the state of her head. A lovely taste of who she is, with great details. Gabriel Day Late, Dollar Short by Sloane. (John/Gabriel) Gabriel picks a gender, John picks up. An elegantly fucked-up version of what could be, delivered in Sloane's sparse, taut, brilliant style. Absolutely must-read. Of Salt and Glass - by Heather. (Gabriel/John-ish) A delicious little bitter nibble of Gabriel POV in contemplation of John and what's wrong with humanity. Tasting - by gypso_child. (Gabriel/men) An angel suddenly inundated with the senses of the world gives in to the pleasures of those senses. Chas Moonlighting - by Sloane. Chas makes a little on the side giving a strange passenger a ride. Sparse and perfect, with spot-on Chas voice. Not Telling - by Val Mora. A great big of Chas over-rationalisation, spiked with some very nice characterisation details. Watch the Sky - by moonythestrals. Chas, John, nightmares, an edgy relationship delivered obliquely through a great circling experimental second-person voice. The Duck - by Elaine (lainey_chan). There's a rubber ducky on the side of John's bath. This is obviously good for a giggle just by itself. A short, sharp bellylaugh. Various Far From Heaven - by aefallen. (Hennessy) A telling of Hennessy's story that gives it elegance, dignity and compassion, while still keeping all of its dirt and wrinkles. Symmetry - by collie. Five drabbles, an ensemble of angels and demons and those in between. Five points of meeting delivered with the precision and efficiency of acupuncture.
